The BBP Team Exhibited at the Ringwood Jobs Fair

On Thursday 31st March, some members of our BBP Concierge team Amy Harris (BBP Coordinator), Sujayne Downie (Yarra Ranges Council) and Michael Schiller (Knox Council) exhibited at the North Eastern Job Fair hosted in Ringwood. This initiative is headed by the Department of Education Skills and Employment (DESE) and facilitated locally by Eastern Volunteers.
It was a fantastic opportunity to meet many job seekers from all stages including younger people embarking on their careers, those looking for a career change, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and those just looking for the next challenge.
We also met and networked with other exhibitors that are working in the employment sector to understand how they can help BBP businesses who are looking for staff and support. This can involve not only recruitment services but also ways for businesses to access training programs for staff, employment grants and funding or holistic support for jobseekers to maintain employment once onboard.
It’s no surprise that most industries and sectors are doing it tough trying to fill vacancies. In talking to businesses in the BBP this is one of the major challenges our team hears about. The BBP team are exploring ways we can support BBP businesses to attract and retain talent in the precinct and keep jobs local.
We understand that the Jobs Fair in Ringwood occurred with a short lead time, and businesses may have missed the opportunity to participate. However, there are future events being planned to engage with jobseekers and ways to access the support available to business in the region.
