Metallic Additive Manufacturing technology has progressed significantly over the last two decades. It is considered among one of a set of disruptive technologies of this century. It is slowly gaining traction and use in industry as the benefits of implementing the technology become more apparent. But, over the last five years, how widely implemented and how useful has the technology been? Thus far, this has not been simple and straightforward to answer.

In the current situation of Covid-19, much discussion circulates about the key advantages of additive manufacturing (3D printing) which is highlighting the practicality of this technology during a time of need. Moreover, another key factor to emerge is the need for local Australian manufacturing industry capability to grow and sustain in the future. Whether this technology can provide us with the competitive edge in both the local and global market is a key challenge that needs to be addressed for our future sustainment in manufacturing.

In this webinar, Assoc. Prof. Suresh Palanisamy, from Swinburne University of Technology will briefly examine:

• Two decades of additive manufacturing technologies

• Status of the Australian additive manufacturing industry

• Future pathways in additive manufacturing

Joining Suresh will be Byron Kennedy, CEO of SPEE3D, who will explain about the capabilities and applications of SPEE3D printers.
